Sri Sathya Sai Drinking Water Project: Satrasaya Phant

The Sri Sathya Sai Drinking Water Project is an undertaking of the Sri Sathya Sai Seva Organization. Upon its completion it will provide drinking water to at least 150 families of Satrasaya Phant. This number includes the forty-four or so Dalit households who have been forbidden from using the public taps because of their status as untouchables.
Satrasaya Phant is situated about eighteen kilometres west of Mugling in the hilly regions of Tanahun District. The inhabitants of the area have long been forced to depend on an antiquated and water supply system whose capacity was inadequate to the needs of the population and whose quality of water was extremely poor. Upon evaluation it was found that a new project would be cheaper to implement than a renovation of the existing system.
The source of the new water supply system is Mul Baraha, a stream situated in the forests about three kilometres from Satrasaya Phant, and the intake is at Ratemato V.D.C.

The foundation stone for the project was laid by the chairman of the Sri Sathya Sai Central Council Nepal on November 12, 2009 in the presence of the local population.
